I don't generally like to write posts about other articles mainly because that's not what this blog is about... however I couldn't help but find this article in Chicago Tribune kind of... well... funny.
You may read that article and say, "Wow, that's really great, a picture of abstinence, a role model for the community." I just didn't know it was news worthy. I mean if I had known it was such a big deal I would have invited all the local news agencies to MY wedding.
"Man and Wife's first kiss at alter! Full details at 11."
(If I can someday get the audio file from the wedding I'll post it here so you (and myself) can check it out when ever we feel like it... )
Anyway, I just found it funny is all. The article never said anything about then having never kissed anyone else before. They just hadn't kissed each other in 2 years of dating. Funny how "the way things should be" ends up in the newspaper as "abnormal".

You know what would be silly? Going to a place to eat and realizing, after you ate dinner, that the gift card was for a completely different dinning establishment. That would be really silly... not like I would ever have done something like that... nooo... not once. (But maybe, twice?) That would be like, getting on the wrong ferry and not realizing it until you were on the other side. Heheh... yeah who would do a thing like that? (Ok, I did... twice.)
So Lisa and I enjoyed a leisurely dinner to a place we thought we had a gift card to only to realize that we in fact did NOT have a gift card for it... this was of course pointed out to us by our waiter. The first time this happened to me I made the discovery... this time I was quite confident that I knew where I was and what I was doing. Wrong again.
I think I am going to start referring to myself as the "Accidental Diner".

Just wrapped up my TCT going away party. Pizza and Salad was had by all. I will miss Romio's pizza. They realy know how to construct a good pie.
Towards the end of the party we noticed the 7 police cars around the WAMU. Turns out the Greenwood WAMU had an attempted robbery. Looks like the guy didn't get far. Jokes were made about our general manager (who had already left) had gone to get money to cover lunch.
Exciting. I told Taproot that they didn't have to throw a robbery in my honor.

Last night I thought to myself, oh, I should get myself a plane ticket so I can meet with up with Lisa in California in November. I made the mistake of picking up the phone and trying to work my way through the United Airlines computer assisted ordering. (I have a travel voucher so I have to talk with them.) It went a little something like this:
Computer: Please state your first name and then spell it.
Me: Ben, B - E - N.
Computer: *bloop, bloop. bloop* Did you say Den? D - E - N?
Me: No. B - E - N
Computer: I'm sorry, I must have misheard you. Lets try that again. *bloop, bloop, blip* Did you say Eden? E - D - E - N?
Me: NO: B - E - N!
Computer: I'm sorry again, I heard you wrong. *bloop, blip, blip* Did you slay Bam? B - A - M?
Me: NO, NO, NO?
Computer: Did you want to start over?
Me: NO! Ben, B - E - N!
Computer: *bloop* Did you say Ben? B - E - N?
Me: YES!
Computer: Excellent. What is your last name?
Me: I want to speak to an agent.
The thing that made this worse was my mother-in-law and Lisa laughing at me as I shouted the spelling of my name into the phone. The agent wasn't too much better though as she had what I would call an "Indian/ Minnesotan" accent.
I really dislike United.

Lisa: "You haven't updated your blog since Tuesday."
Ben: "No, really? Maybe you internet browser is caching the page Hit refresh."
Lisa: "Nope."
Ben: "Hmmmm, twitter must be keeping the commentors at bay..."
My dear reading public. I am sorry I haven't updated. Between my face hurting most of last week and doing a lot of work combined with a short week I have been thrown off a bit. (What day is it?)
Happy 4th of July! Errr... yesterday. A happy 203rd anniversary of the US's 29th birthday! To celebrate yesterday I woke up, did some stuff around the house, and when Lisa woke up 3 hours later we made fruit salad and headed off to our first BBQ. We were there until about 6pm and then we moved to the second one and we got home about 1:30am. Being as we left our house at 12:30 that means we BBQ'ed/ 4th of July partied for 13 hours. It's nice to be able to go out and about. I remember last year we were halfway hoping I would be in the Hospital over the holiday so that we could watch the fireworks from my room overlooking lake union. That didn't happen and I figure we probably spent the day at home, me on the couch. I guess I could always look back at the archives, but I am still trying to work through that mentally.
Today we're taking it easy about the house. I am letting Lisa work on some things for her internship but doing things that need doing around the house. (Laundry, dishes, bathroom cleaning, etc) I figure she did a lot of that stuff on her own last year, I might as well take some of the work off of her so she can do some "professional development".
Medically: I'm doing well. Muscles REALLY need some work. I played Wii baseball yesterday and my arm is pretty sore today. I'm still hovering around 140 weight wise. I'm trying to eat healthier and push myself a little harder and get stronger everyday. Thank you for the continued prayers in that area. I covet your prayers as I continue this summer.
Ok, I think I need to go clean something now. (Oh, the picture is of Niko "helping" me make fruit salad. (Hint: He's not REALLY helping.))

My half birthday doesn't roll around until July 10th, so I haven't made it halfway through 26 yet (interesting... I feel like the first half of the year always goes slower than the 2nd half...) but today I received three birthday cards!
Today Karen Lund handed me a little gift bag and it had 3 cards in it. One celebrating my 30th birthday, and a note on how scared we all were "a couple of years ago" when I had cancer. The next card celebrates my 60th birthday and says some nice things about my wife and the children I have. The final card was a (most likely) belated 90th birthday card.
I wanted to thank Karen for her thoughtfulness and creativity to encourage me through the next 64 years of life. It made me smile and I think perhaps I will try to keep these cards for the rest of my life. (I've tried to keep all the "cancer support" cards I have gotten this past year as well)
Thank you for believing that God has much more in store for me. Seriously all of your support has lifted me when I felt the darkest!

Do you want to see something funny? Go to Google and type in (without quotes): How to draw a muffin. I can wait... come back when you've done that...
Do you see the top link? Funny, no? 235,000 links and I'm sitting at the top. I'm thinking that I will start making t-shirts with the muffin logo and maybe start a kind of internet phenomenon. It'll be cool, you can all be like, "Oh yeah, 802.heaven, I read that before it was cool and/or known for the muffin thing." I'm seriously considering registering the domain name...
Stay tuned.
[Edit]5.29.08: It seems that Google has de-listed my original blog post from their searches. I no longer come up with how to draw a muffin. (At least the original post) There, sadly enough, does not seem to be anything I can do about it.
HOWEVER, HowToDrawAMuffin.com (How To Draw a Muffin) is now live to the world!
